Practice makes perfect. Male Nude in the Studio of Bonnat (1877) was painted by the Danish artist Laurits Tuxen (1853-1927). There is a reason that there almost any good artist from the 19th century stayed for an extended period in Paris, or at least visited the place. It was the art capital of the world, with the best art schools, and great teachers. Léon Bonnat (1833-1922) was one of those influential teachers, and between 1875 and 1878, Tuxen studied with him. During this time, he captured this scene of an art class, where the students had to practice painting the male nude. And after his art classes in Paris, where he learned the naturalist style, he moved back to Denmark, where he taught those skills to Danish students that did not have the opportunity to visit Paris. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #FineArts #ArtoftheDay #DanishArt #DanishPainter #DanishArtist #Bonnat #LeonBonnat #ArtClass #Class #MaleNude #Practice #LauritsTuxen #Tuxen
