How would you describe the interior of this chapel in a single word? Entrance to the Crypt, Roslin Chapel (1843) was painted by the Scottish artist David Roberts (1796-1864). It shows the Roslin Chapel, located near Edinburgh, Scotland. It is famous for its beautiful sculptures and carvings. The chapel was founded in 1446 and was damaged and rebuilt over the next four centuries. The beautiful twisted column in front of the kneeling figure is known as the Prentice Pillar. It is part of a bizarre legend. According to that ancient legend, it was carved by an apprentice in absence of his master. But when the master returned, he saw how beautiful it was, and he realized that he would never be able to match the skill of the apprentice. He decided to murder the apprentice out of jealousy. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #FineArts #ArtoftheDay #ScottishArt #ScottishArtist #ScottishPainter #Mysterious #Crypt #DavidRoberts #RoslinChapel #Legend #Edinburgh
