(42.5 x 31.1 in.), Private Collection George Roux was a French artist and book illustrator, renowned, particularly, for a large number of illustrations he created for the science-fiction novels of Jules Verne His 'Spirite' from 1885 depicts two figures, a young woman, playing piano, and a man, confused and shocked, watching the woman, who is illuminated by a light, coming from inside of her and partly lighting up the dark room they are in.
